Fira will be building a daycare centre according to the HEI Schools concept for 150 children in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki, and a school and preschool premises for approximately 250 children in the city of Hyvinkää. Both construction projects are set to get underway in March 2019.
“Building a new school and daycare centre is a pleasure for us. The metropolitan area will be investing in preschool premises and schools in the coming years. Fira wants to be involved in this development,” says Tuomas Lankinen, Category Manager of project development in Fira Oy’s Commercial Construction services.
The gross area of the HEI Schools project in Jätkäsaari covers 1,600 m2 and includes facilities for an external café operator in addition to the daycare centre. The project’s client is the Special Investment Fund eQ Care, the user will be Touhula Varhaiskasvatus Oy and the daycare centre will be operating according to the international HEI Schools concept based on Finnish know-how on early education. HEI Schools has been conceptualised by education sector professionals in cooperation with the University of Helsinki. User-friendliness and openness are the cornerstones of its easily scalable operations.
The project has included the Fira Verstas service, in which the project’s profitability, feasibility and functionality were developed in cooperation with the client as well as the users and designers. The construction work will be completed in April 2020.
“It’s great to be involved in the establishment of English daycare centre services in Jätkäsaari and the development of the flagship of the HEI Schools concept. The Verstas phase made sense in a project where the parties to the consortium had the chance to come up with the best possible design solutions for safe and healthy daycare premises in an enthusiastic atmosphere,” says Julia Astrada, Project Manager of eQ.
The gross area of the Metsäkaltevatalo to be constructed for the city of Hyvinkää covers 5,000 m2 of school and preschool premises for some 200 children and approximately 50 preschoolers. The construction work will be completed in June 2020.
