Fira Oy and Aalto-yliopistokiinteistöt Oy have signed a project management contract for the fourth phase of the A Grid project. The gross floor area of the facilities to be modernised is approximately 7,000 square metres.
The site is located within the Aalto University campus in Otaniemi, Espoo. The project is a continuation of the renovation that Fira began in the building in 2017. The project has been carried out in phases, one area at a time. During the fourth phase, the old office spaces in the last unmodernised part of the building will be renovated and turned into a modern startup cluster.
The aim of the modernisation project has been to respect and highlight the appearance of the building. For example, old surfaces have been preserved and renovated.
“The last wing of the building, the I wing, will be renovated following the same principles as the previously renovated wings with the exception of the Magnet House extension completed in 2001,” says ACRE’s Project Manager Mika Lindvall.
The project will be completed at the end of 2019.
“We have received wonderful feedback from both the client and the users regarding the previous phases. It is great to continue with this project,” says Pekka Sipponen, category manager of modernisation production.
